Commercial Sign Installation Across Dallas Fort Worth

Installation is the day everyone sees. Our field team prepares the site, sets the sign with the right lift, makes the electrical connection under our Texas electrical sign contractor license and walks the finished sign with you before leaving.

What does commercial sign installation include?

Commercial sign installation covers everything between the shop and a working sign: confirming the site is ready, locating underground utilities before digging for a ground sign, lifting and mounting the sign, connecting power and checking the result. In Texas, only a licensed electrical sign contractor may do the electrical work on an illuminated sign, and Signs Express is licensed to do it.

What the service includes

Installation, handled end to end.

01

Site readiness check

Before the crew is scheduled, we confirm access, parking and room to set up a lift, that the permit is issued and that power is where the drawings say it will be.

02

Utility locates for ground signs

Nothing is dug for a monument or pole sign until underground utilities have been located and marked at the site.

03

Ground sign foundations

Monument and pole signs stand on foundations built to the engineering details prepared for the site, so the sign stays plumb and secure.

04

Bucket trucks and lifts

Lifting equipment is matched to the height and weight of the sign and the space available to set up, from storefront fascias to the top of a pole.

05

Mounting and alignment

Letters, cabinets and panels are fastened to the wall, pole or base with the hardware and pattern from the shop drawings, then leveled and aligned to the approved layout.

06

Electrical connection

Illuminated signs are connected to the circuit at the sign location under Texas Electrical Sign Contractor #18921. If no circuit is there yet, we flag it early so it can be arranged before installation day.

07

Final walkthrough

Once the sign is up and lit, we review it with you from the street and up close and confirm it matches the drawing you approved.

Why it matters

A well-built sign can still be installed badly.

Crooked letters, exposed fasteners, a cabinet sitting out of level or a monument that settles after the first heavy rain: these are installation problems, and they stay on the property long after the crew has gone. Installation also carries the most risk of any stage, because the work happens at height, near traffic and around live power.

Because we fabricate the signs we install, the crew arrives knowing how the sign was built, which hardware it takes and how it connects. Nobody is working out a stranger's mounting pattern on the day.

How it works

Our installation process.

  1. 01

    Schedule and confirm

The date is booked once the sign is built and approvals are in hand. We confirm site access, where the truck and lift will park and whether power is ready at the sign location.

  2. 02

    Locate and prepare

For ground signs, utilities are marked before any digging and the foundation goes in to the engineered details. For wall signs, the fascia is checked and the layout is marked from the approved drawing.

  3. 03

    Lift and set

The sign is raised with a bucket truck or lift and fastened to the wall, pole or base. Letters are set to the layout, cabinets are leveled and wall penetrations are sealed against water.

  4. 04

    Connect and power up

Illuminated signs are wired to the circuit at the sign location and switched on, with the electrical work performed under our Texas license.

  5. 05

    Walk it with you

We look at the finished sign together, lit and unlit, from the road and from the door. Anything that needs attention is noted and closed out.

Straight answers

Installation: common questions.

Who can connect an illuminated sign to power in Texas?

Only a licensed electrical sign contractor. Our license comes from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (Texas Electrical Sign Contractor #18921), so the company that sets your sign also makes its electrical connection.

What happens before you dig for a monument or pole sign?

Underground utilities are located and marked through Texas 811 first. Public locates do not always cover private lines, such as parking lot lighting, irrigation or a line feeding another building, so we also ask the owner or property manager what else may be buried where the foundation will go.

Will installing a sign damage my facade?

A wall sign needs fasteners, so some holes are unavoidable. The aim is to keep them few, put them exactly where the shop drawings say and seal each one against water. Fasteners are matched to the wall material recorded during the survey, so they hold without cracking the finish around them.

Does someone need to be at the property during installation?

Not for the whole visit, but it helps to have someone available at the start to confirm access and at the end for the walkthrough. For leased spaces, we coordinate with the property manager when the landlord requires notice before work on the building.

How long does installation take on site?

It varies with the sign. A set of storefront letters and a ground sign that needs a new foundation are very different jobs, and some installations take more than one visit. When we schedule your installation, we tell you what to expect for your sign.

What if the weather turns on installation day?

High wind, lightning and heavy rain make lift work and electrical connections unsafe. If conditions are not safe, we reschedule rather than rush the job, and we let you know as early as we can.

Can you take down the old sign?

Yes, when the new sign replaces it. Removal is planned into the installation, including what happens to the old fastener holes and electrical on the wall, so the new sign does not go up over loose ends.
